New Subsidized Housing Program to Support Healthcare, Education, and Media Sectors

Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Housing and Residential Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait revealed that the government is currently preparing a subsidized housing program for healthcare workers, teachers, and fishermen.

According to the minister the program will provide 30,000 houses for healthcare workers, 20,000 houses for teachers, and 20,000 houses for fishermen.

"President Prabowo has already announced it. This year, we have prepared 20,000 subsidized houses for teachers, and the program has already started last week in Bogor. After Eid, we will immediately begin the construction of 30,000 houses for healthcare workers, including midwives, nurses, and public health workers," the minister stated on Monday (March 31).

He added: "Then, we will build 20,000 houses for fishermen and another 20,000 for teachers. We are also providing housing for the Navy and Air Force, as the Army and Police have already received theirs,"

Minister Sirait further stated that the subsidized housing programs have full support from President Prabowo Subianto and have also received backing from Bank Indonesia (BI) through policy relaxation, particularly the Macroeconomic Liquidity Incentive Policy (KLM).

"We were also supported by President Prabowo, Deputy Speaker of the House Dasco, and the Governor of Bank Indonesia. With BI’s policy relaxation, we have secured substantial funding to develop housing projects," Minister Sirait explained.

Additionally, the government is preparing a subsidized housing program for media industry workers, allocating 1,000 houses for journalists.

"We will hold a meeting with journalists soon. I have allocated 1,000 subsidized houses specifically for journalists," he added.

For healthcare workers, 15,000 houses will be allocated for nurses, 10,000 for midwives, and 5,000 for other healthcare professionals.

The distribution of subsidized mortgage loans will be facilitated by the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN).
