Indonesia Sent 12 Tons of Aid for Earthquake Victims in Myanmar

Jakarta, VIVA – The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), along with relevant agencies, sent humanitarian assistance to Myanmar to help the victims of the earthquake.

The aid was sent using a TNI AU Hercules aircraft, carrying personnel and logistical supplies.

The Vice Minister of Defense  Air Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto, revealed that the team dispatched carried logistics, including food, tents, and medicines.

"We would like to convey that the President of the Republic of Indonesia has instructed us, the government, to provide aid from the people of Indonesia to the people of Myanmar, especially those severely affected by this natural disaster," Taufanto said on Monday (March 31).

The Indonesian Aid Team consists of 39 members, including personnel from TNI, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Basarnas, Baznas, and the Ministry of Health.

Along with the team and logistical aid, security personnel from TNI and flight crew were dispatched, led by Mission Commander Colonel Pnb Beni Aprianto.

They were flown on a Hercules aircraft, which has a cargo capacity of 12 to 15 tons.

The logistical aid sent includes 20 units of multifunctional tents, blankets, sarongs, and ready-to-eat food from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, additional aid from BNPB, and one truck from Basarnas for operations at the location.

"A few people were on this flight, including 11 members of the advance team, some security team members, and flight personnel. The amount of logistics we carried today is quite substantial, about 12 tons," he emphasized.

He added: "But the most significant part will come tomorrow, and on April 3, we will send even more aid from the people of Indonesia to the people of Myanmar."

Before departure, under the command of the TNI Commander, General Agus Subiyanto, a readiness check of the forces and military equipment was conducted at 2 p.m. by the Assistant for Operations of the TNI Commander, Major General Gabriel Lema.

The plane departed at approximately 4.30 p.m., from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, Jakarta, following the route Halim Perdanakusuma-Banda Aceh (RON)-Naypyidaw, Myanmar.

After delivering the aid, the Hercules aircraft will return to Indonesia on Tuesday (April 1), following the route Naypyidaw-Banda Aceh (RON)-Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta.

This aid delivery is part of Indonesia's commitment to humanitarian support and assisting the affected people in Myanmar, which will be carried out in several phases.
