Jakarta, VIVA – Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, is optimistic that if the government and local businesses successfully seize the EUR300 million (IDR 56,4 billion) investment opportunity brought by 120 Dutch entrepreneurs, it will significantly benefit the national economy.

Speaking after the "Economic Mission from The Netherlands to Indonesia" event—organized in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy at a hotel in the Sudirman area, Jakarta—Bakrie expressed confidence that the partnership would create new job opportunities and increase trade volumes between the two countries.

In 2023, trade between Indonesia and the Netherlands reached US$4.2 billion. Anindya is certain that number will grow.

"Last year, our goods trade with the Netherlands was already at US$4.2 billion. I’m confident it will continue to grow," Bakrie said on Monday (June 16).

"Especially with new investments entering Indonesia and ongoing collaboration in technology," he added.

Regarding food security cooperation, Bakrie confirmed that the mission also aims to facilitate knowledge transfer to boost the productivity of Indonesia’s agricultural sector—part of the country’s broader efforts toward achieving self-sufficiency and national food security.

The kadin chairman pointed out that Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) could serve as an offtaker to absorb increased agricultural production.

"Right now, the MBG program alone requires around 80 million eggs and 80 million portions of chicken meat," Bakrie stated.

"With improved capabilities in producing protein, carbohydrates, or vegetables—using Dutch expertise—Indonesia can achieve this," he continued.

Bakrie also emphasized that increasing productivity could uplift the livelihoods of Indonesian farmers, ultimately helping the country reach food self-sufficiency.
