Jakarta, VIVA – The American tech giant Apple has officially announced the arrival of the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia, starting on April 11, 2025.

"All models deliver fast and smooth performance with Apple silicon, innovative photo and video capabilities, and exceptional battery life, ensuring that all customers—whether new to Apple or upgrading their devices—benefit from the outstanding innovations in this lineup," Apple stated in a press release on Thursday (March 27).

Apple will bring the complete iPhone 16 series to Indonesia, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16e.

This confirms earlier reports from March 21, 2025, when Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid stated that the iPhone 16 series had already obtained the postel certification for postal and telecommunications compliance, proving that the devices meet Indonesia's required technical standards and regulations.

Postel certification is mandatory for any device that will be manufactured, assembled, imported, used, or sold in Indonesia.

"It's all set from our side regarding the iPhone 16," said Minister Hafid.

According to an official announcement on the postel certification website, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has issued postel certificates for five iPhone 16 series models:

• iPhone 16 Pro Max (Certificate No. 108550/DJID/2025)
• iPhone 16 Pro (Certificate No. 108552/DJID/2025)
• iPhone 16 Plus (Certificate No. 108553/DJID/2025)
• iPhone 16 (Certificate No. 108574/DJID/2025)
• iPhone 16e (Certificate No. 108575/DJID/2025)

Postel certification is a crucial requirement for any device that will be manufactured, assembled, imported, used, or sold in Indonesia.

To proceed with its market entry, Apple must also obtain the Product Registration Certificate for Imports from the Ministry of Industry.

Additionally, Apple is required to register the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) for its devices before they can be officially sold in Indonesia.
