Russia, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the country’s economic achievements and future prospects in a keynote speech during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) held at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday (June 20).

Speaking before global leaders and economic stakeholders, President Prabowo expressed optimism about Indonesia’s current economic trajectory.

“My experts told me that in the first half of this year, our economy has grown by more than 5 percent. By the end of the year, it could even approach 7 percent, or more,” the head of state said.

He emphasized that this achievement reflects the success of the government’s economic policy direction. With such a strong foundation, he believes Indonesia is well-positioned to meet its ambitious goals in the near future.

“This shows that we have chosen the right path and we are achieving our objectives,” the president added.

President Prabowo also revealed Indonesia’s bold ambition not just to be self-sufficient in food but to become a net exporter of key commodities like rice and corn within a few years.

“We will become a net exporter of rice and corn in the coming years,” he declared.

A key highlight of his speech was the introduction of Danantara, officially known as the Indonesia Future Energy Sovereign Wealth Fund (BPI Danantara).

He described it as a long-term legacy investment body for future generations.

“We have established a sovereign wealth fund we call Danantara, which means Indonesia’s energy for the future. This fund is designed to safeguard the wealth of our children and grandchildren. Currently, it manages assets worth USD 1,000 billion,” president Prabowo explained.

President Prabowo also highlighted Indonesia’s openness to global partnerships, mentioning long-standing ties with Russian corporations.

“We're open for business. We invite all groups, from anywhere,” he concluded.
