Prabowo Visits Russia to Meet Vladimir Putin and Join SPIEF 2025

Moscow, VIVA – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, arrived at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday (June 18), at around 5:50 p.m. local time.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo's visit is part of an official trip following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Upon arrival, President Prabowo received a warm welcome from Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.

He was also greeted by Russia’s Deputy Chief of State Protocol Alexander Prusov and Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono.

The official welcoming ceremony included an honor guard inspection. President Prabowo and Deputy PM Manturov stood to hear the national anthems of both Indonesia and Russia being played at the airport.

After the formalities, both leaders introduced the members of their delegations. The Russian side included Senator Ilyas Umakhanov of Dagestan, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov, and St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov.

The Indonesian delegation included Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares, and Defense Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Air Vice Marshal Jatmiko Adi.

Before leaving the airport, President Prabowo also watched a brief parade presented by the honor guard.

He then headed to his accommodation in St. Petersburg with his limited entourage.

President Prabowo’s official visit will continue on June 19, when he is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia across various sectors.

“In Russia, President Prabowo, invited directly by President Putin, will receive an official state welcome and attend a bilateral meeting on June 19,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya earlier, on last Sunday.
