Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian president, Prabowo Subianto, reaffirmed his commitment to seriously combat corruption in the country. He pledged to support the ratification of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
“As part of eradicating corruption, I support the Asset Forfeiture Law, I support it,” the head of state said during his speech at the International Workers' Day celebration at National Monument Jakarta, on Thursday (May 1).
The Head of State emphasized that corruptors must return the assets they have stolen from the country. He vowed to go after them to the very roots.
“They think they can just steal and not return the assets? I’ll take them back! Agreed? Shall we continue the fight against corruptors?” he remarked.
On that occasion, the president jokingly warned workers not to accept money to protest in defense of corrupt individuals.
“Don’t let yourselves be paid to protest for corruptors, okay? Watch out. I’m amazed that in Indonesia, there are even demonstrations supporting corruptors,” he said.
The head of state then declared his determination to eliminate corruption from Indonesian soil. He warned officials and government employees to stop stealing from the people.
“Hey, you in government institutions, you're paid by the people. I say, stop your corruption! Stop stealing the people's money, stop it!” he concluded.
