St, Petersburg, VIVA – President Prabowo Subianto and President Vladimir Putin met in St. Petersburg on Thursday (June 19) and signed several key agreements between Indonesia and Russia.
The signing ceremony took place at the Konstantinovsky Palace following a bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
As information, in total, four agreements were signed. These cover cooperation in higher education, transportation, information and communication technology, and mass media.
One of the most significant deals was the establishment of a joint Russia-Indonesia investment platform worth 2 billion euros.
Beyond the signed agreements, President Putin also expressed Russia’s willingness to expand energy cooperation with Indonesia.
He confirmed that Russia is ready to increase its supply of crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Indonesian market.
“We're ready to increase the supply of oil and LNG to the Indonesian market,” president Putin stated during a joint press conference with Prabowo, as broadcasted by the Presidential Secretariat’s official YouTube channel.
The head of state also revealed that Russian companies would partner with Indonesia’s state-owned oil company, Pertamina, to build an oil refinery in the petrochemical region of East Java.

He added that Russia is ready to take part in new infrastructure projects in Indonesia, including efforts to modernize oil production from aging fields.
In 2024, trade between Indonesia and Russia reached USD 4.3 billion, and president Putin noted that trade volume had already grown by 40 percent in the first four months of 2025.
The Russian president also conveyed his country’s openness to cooperating with Indonesia in the field of nuclear energy.
He expressed hopes for increased collaboration in sectors such as healthcare and agriculture.
“We're open to cooperation with our Indonesian partners in the nuclear sector,” the Russian president said.
He further highlighted Russia’s interest in expanding ties in advanced technologies, including peaceful space exploration, smart cities, artificial intelligence, and cultural exchange.
“For more than six years, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Jakarta has hosted concerts, exhibitions, and performances. Russian and Indonesian education centers have also opened in Jakarta and Bali,” he stated.
The meeting marks a deepening of strategic ties between Jakarta and Moscow, with both leaders emphasizing a shared vision of mutual development and technological progress.
