Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, met with the Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PKV), To Lam, to discuss potential collaborations in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
Bakrie stated that To Lam's visit to Indonesia marked the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam.
The trade value between the two nations reached $16 billion in 2024, reflecting a 20% increase from the previous year.
"Looking ahead, we see opportunities for trade cooperation in agriculture and fisheries. But also, investment prospects in energy transition, electronics, and even semiconductors," he said on Sunday (March 9).

He stated that many Indonesian companies have already invested in Vietnam, particularly in the property sector.
"Conversely, Vietnamese companies have also made significant investments in Indonesia, particularly in electronics and tourism, among other industries. I think this is a positive development," he explained.
Bakrie also highlighted Indonesia’s key exports to Vietnam, including coal, palm oil, and fishery products. Meanwhile, Vietnam's primary exports to Indonesia are electronics.
"Vietnam has a powerful presence in the electronics sector in Indonesia. This prompts us to explore ways to leverage their expertise and productivity in fisheries and agriculture while also enhancing the electronics value chain—potentially even extending to semiconductors," he concluded.
