East Java, VIVA – Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), has lauded the remarkable economic growth of East Java.

He emphasized the need to observe whether this growth trajectory would persist following recent budget cuts by the government.

East Java's economy demonstrated its resilience in 2024, achieving a growth rate of 5.2 percent. Bakrie emphasized that this performance positions the region as a crucial barometer of Indonesia's overall economic health.

"East Java serves as the gateway to Eastern Indonesia. Also, Eastern Indonesia represents the future of our nation. With such a vital gateway, the potential here is extraordinary," Bakrie stated on Monday (February 10).

Bakrie then identified several key strengths in East Java that contribute to its economic growth. He highlighted the region's robust domestic consumption, significant investment growth, and substantial revenues from the oil and gas sector.

"East Java has also demonstrated strong export performance," Bakrie remarked.

He added, "The supportive government policies, the excellent relationship between the East Java Chamber of Commerce and the regional government, and the dynamism of Surabaya all contribute to a favorable economic environment."
