Prabowo and French President Macron to Hold Gaza Conference in June 2025

Jakarta, VIVA – French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that he had a discussion with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (Apr 5).

During the conversation, the two leaders talked about preparations for a conference on Gaza, which is scheduled to take place in June 2025.

"We will work together in preparing the conference on Gaza to be held in June," Macron said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), written in Indonesian and shared through his account @EmmanuelMacron.

Macron emphasized that France and Indonesia share a common commitment to promoting peace and security in the Middle East.

He added that both countries are also determined to end the war of aggression between Russia and Ukraine.

"And to end the war of aggression being carried out by Russia against Ukraine," he stated.

On another note, Macron said that he and Prabowo are committed to strengthening cooperation in defense, economy, science, and culture, as well as developing academic exchanges.

"France and Europe want to build the economy of the future together with Indonesia by creating resilient value chains, particularly in the critical minerals sector, and supporting the energy transition," he explained.

Previously, it was reported that the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (March 26).

The meeting took place at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta.

During the meeting, they also discussed the planned visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Indonesia in May 2025.

"I believe we had a very productive discussion with President Prabowo in preparation for President Macron’s upcoming visit," he told.
