Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, is confident that Indonesia can become a global energy supplier.
He expressed this belief during his speech at the opening of the 49th Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) Convention and Exhibition at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, on Wednesday (May 21).
“We're very, very optimistic that soon we will not only be energy self-sufficient, but we will also start supplying energy to the world,” president Prabowo said.
President Prabowo's confidence stems from Indonesia's massive energy potential. This includes renewable sources such as geothermal, hydropower, wind, and even wave energy.

“I just spoke with some experts from top universities abroad—just yesterday, in fact—they shared that our seas hold vast energy sources, and current technology is capable of tapping into them,” he added.
On the other hand, the head of state welcomed the Indonesian oil and gas industry's commitment to supporting energy transition through various initiatives, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) and other innovations.
He also encouraged both domestic and international parties to invest in the energy sector.
“We have also prepared a large investment fund, Danantara Indonesia, which is ready to make strategic investments in available energy projects—together with our international partners—to meet our needs,” he concluded.
