Batam, VIVA – Marriott International has introduced a new addition to its Westin Hotels & Resorts brand with the opening of The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa Batam. Situated on the secluded Nirup Island, the property is located just a 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore, offering visitors an escape surrounded by nature.
The resort spans the entire private island and features a range of wellness-oriented offerings. These include guided nature walks, yoga sessions by the beach, and various health-focused workshops. With on-site immigration and customs, guests arriving via ferry or private yacht can access the island with ease.
“This opening marks a significant milestone in our expansion into regional leisure destinations,” said Ramesh Jackson, Regional Vice President for Indonesia & Malaysia at Marriott International. “The resort integrates our wellness pillars — Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well — to provide guests with a restorative experience in nature.”
The property includes 94 rooms and suites, along with 52 villas designed with influences from the local Orang Laut heritage. Each accommodation features outdoor spaces with views of either the sea or skyline, and amenities such as the Heavenly® Bed and Westin Bath products are standard.
Dining options on-site include Island Kitchen for international cuisine, Nirup Social Bar & Lounge for beverages and snacks, and Salt Simply Seafood offering sea-to-table dishes. A rooftop bar, Constellate Pool Bar, offers panoramic views.
Guests can also access a full-service spa, a fitness studio equipped with Technogym gear, and outdoor recreation including trekking and water sports. Facilities for weddings and meetings are available, including a 450-square-meter ballroom.
“The island offers a peaceful setting where guests can reconnect and create lasting memories,” said Manoj Rawat, Cluster General Manager. “We aim to deliver thoughtful service in a natural environment.”
