Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono paid a working visit to Doha and met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, on Wednesday (March 5).
In a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the two foreign ministers discussed strengthening bilateral relations across various strategic sectors, including politics, economy, defense and security, as well as infrastructure.

They also talked about President Prabowo Subianto’s planned state visit to Qatar later this year, which is expected to serve as a key moment for enhancing ties between the two nations, according to the ministry’s statement.
Additionally, both ministers discussed cooperation in rallying international support for the Palestinian people's struggle for independence and their aspirations to establish a sovereign state.
The statement further highlighted that Qatar is one of Indonesia’s key partners in the Middle East, particularly in the investment sector. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have been in place since 1976.
