Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, has invited Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to expand investment in Indonesia’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as its agricultural sector.
The invitation was extended during a bilateral meeting held at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (May 15).
“We’re committed to working together to improve the welfare of our farmers and MSMEs. We will also work hard to ensure Indonesian products meet international standards," the head of state said.
And, the president continued, "We invite Australia to deepen cooperation, especially in the agricultural sector."
He also emphasized that food security and economic self-sufficiency for the people are top priorities for his administration.
According to president Prabowo, Australia is a strategic partner with strong experience and technology in agriculture and supply chains.
In addition to agriculture and MSMEs, Prabowo said bilateral cooperation will continue to strengthen in areas such as trade, defense, education, and clean energy transition.
“We want to ensure that this cooperation brings real benefits, especially to the people of both countries,” he stated.

President Prabowo said that the Indonesia-Australia partnership is becoming increasingly crucial amid global economic uncertainties.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albanese welcomed the invitation and reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to deepening its economic partnership with Indonesia, including promoting inclusive and green economic growth.
This visit to Jakarta marks Albanese’s first overseas trip since being re-elected as Australian Prime Minister.
During the visit, he also invited Albanese to spend time at the Hambalang compound and go horseback riding together, symbolizing their personal friendship as leaders.
