Jakarta, VIVA – Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that Indonesia is ready to serve as a mediator in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan—if asked.
He emphasized that Indonesia’s stance will always align with its constitution.
"Whatever actions we take will be based on our constitution. If we are asked to contribute in any way that promotes global peace, we will actively take part," minister Sugiono said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Friday (May 16).

The minister also expressed hope that tensions between India and Pakistan would ease soon, noting that war between nations brings no benefits.
"Because war—wherever it happens and by whoever starts it—brings no good," he said.
Minister Sugiono also echoed President Prabowo Subianto’s recent remarks on global tensions, highlighting the need for collaboration in uncertain times.
"In today’s global climate, what we need to do is find common ground, work together, and collaborate for the welfare of people in each country," he explained.
The minister added, "We truly hope the tensiondoes not escalate, and that the leaders of both countries can wisely seek and find a comprehensive solution."
