Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian president, Prabowo Subianto, welcomed Microsoft founder Bill Gates at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 7).
In his remarks, President Prabowo stated that Bill Gates, through the Gates Foundation, has donated a total of USD 159 million or around IDR 2,56 trillion to Indonesia.
President Prabowo explained that Gates contributed USD 119 million (IDR 1.92 trillion) to the health sector, USD 5 million (IDR 80.65 billion) to agriculture, USD 5 million (IDR 80.65 billion) to technology, and an additional USD 28 million (IDR 451.64 billion) to other cross-sector social aid.

In addition, the head of state also mentioned that the Gates Foundation has made significant contributions in the health sector through PT Bio Farma.
Bill Gates is currently developing several vaccines, which are expected to be used by 40 countries.
"He provided IDR 1.3 trillion for polio vaccines, and now Bio Farma produces 2 billion doses of vaccines annually. These are used in around 40 countries and have benefited 902 million people," he concluded.
