Jakarta, VIVA – In today's globalized world, mastering English is more than just a skill—it’s a vital gateway to greater educational, professional, and personal opportunities.
For Indonesian children and teenagers, building strong English proficiency from an early age is becoming increasingly essential to navigate the future with confidence.
Recognizing this, one of the country’s most established English course providers is entering a bold new era to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners.
EF Kids & Teens, a trusted name in English education for over three decades, has officially rebranded itself as English 1.
Part of EF Education First—a global education company founded in 1965—EF Kids & Teens has played a major role in shaping English language learning in Indonesia since opening its first center in 1995.
Today, with over 106 centers nationwide and more than 85,000 active students, the institution continues to strengthen its legacy under the new English 1 identity.
Rebranding EF Kids & Teens
The rebranding is introduced through two major campaigns: “Say Hello to the Future” during the pre-event phase, and #HelloEnglish1 to mark the official launch day.
Matthew Kenley, President Director of English 1, emphasized that the rebranding is more about evolution than change.
“For 30 years, we have been a trusted partner in helping Indonesian youth become confident English speakers. Today, we welcome the future with English 1—same quality education, now with a fresh identity. Our mission remains unchanged: to empower students through the best English language education,” said Kenley at South Jakarta, on Monday (Apr 21).
Meanwhile, Rhea Danaparamita, Marketing Director of English 1, added that the “Say Hello to the Future” and #HelloEnglish1 campaigns are also a call to action for parents, urging them to prepare their children for a future where English proficiency is a critical advantage.
“This transformation isn’t just about a new name and logo. It’s about preparing for the future. We want parents to see English 1 as a long-term partner in shaping globally ready children—through fun, relevant, and meaningful English learning,” Danaparamita explained.
Despite the new name, English 1 retains its trusted educational approach, continuing the proven Learn, Try, Apply learning system.
The Learn phase builds students' confidence with support from dedicated teachers.
The Try phase allows students to practice through innovative online self-learning content.
The Apply phase encourages real-world language use via engaging Life Club sessions.
Currently, English 1 operates 106 centers across Indonesia, serving more than 85,000 active students.
The academic team continues to enhance its exclusive learning materials to align with technological advancements and evolving teaching methods.
Following the success of Frontrunner 2.0, a program launched in 2024 for students aged 15 to 18 this year, English 1 is also developing a new version of High Flyers, its popular course for children aged 7 to 9.
