359 Churches Prioritized as NTT Police Secure Easter Celebrations

East Nusa Tenggara, VIVA – The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police have secured a total of 9,001 churches during Operation Samana Santa Turangga 2025 for Easter celebration, with 359 churches marked as top security priorities.

A total of 3,148 personnel have been deployed from April 15 to 30, supported by the Indonesian military, the Transportation Agency, Basarnas (search and rescue), Tagana (disaster response), and other related units.

“We deployed 3,148 personnel from all district police units under regional police NTT, backed by various support agencies,” said Deputy Chief of NTT Police, Brigadier General Awi Setyono.

The joint deployment aims to ensure that Christian and Catholic worshippers can celebrate Easter peacefully and safely.

Setyono also urged the public to help maintain a peaceful environment and reminded officers not to underestimate any incident, following all operational standards.

Public enthusiasm for Samana Santa in Flores Timur continues to grow each year, with pilgrims coming from both Indonesia and abroad—including from Rome, Portugal, Timor-Leste, and the Vatican.
