Jakarta, VIVA – A total of 368,470 vehicles left the Greater Jakarta area (Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi or Jabotabek) during the D-3 to D-2 period of the 2025 Vesak long holiday, which fell on Friday–Saturday, May 9–10, 2025.

That figure is the cumulative traffic volume from four main toll gates: Cikupa Toll Gate (towards Merak), Ciawi Toll Gate (towards Puncak), Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (towards Trans Java), and Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate (towards Bandung).

“The total traffic volume leaving Greater Jakarta increased by 13.6 percent compared to normal traffic,” said Lisye Octaviana, Head of Corporate Communication & Community Development Group at Jasa Marga on Sunday (May 11).

In terms of traffic distribution, the majority — 176,319 vehicles (47.8%) — headed east (Trans Java and Bandung), followed by 101,955 vehicles (27.7%) going west (Merak), and 90,196 vehicles (24.5%) traveling south (Puncak).

According to her, this increase was due to the Vesak holiday in 2025. She added that on D-2 of the holiday, a total of 199,344 vehicles were recorded leaving Greater Jakarta through the four main toll gates — a 20.2 percent increase from the normal traffic volume of 165,775 vehicles.

“On D-2 of Vesak 2025, Jasa Marga recorded increased traffic out of Greater Jakarta, with 43,718 vehicles passing through Cikampek Utama Toll Gate — up 43.1 percent from the normal traffic volume of 30,555 vehicles,” she stated.

At Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate, 53,904 vehicles were recorded — a 30.8 percent increase from the normal volume of 41,214 vehicles.

Ciawi Toll Gate saw 51,388 vehicles, a 17.6 percent rise from the normal 43,701 vehicles, and Cikupa Toll Gate logged 50,334 vehicles, 0.1 percent more than the normal 50,305 vehicles.

She also urged drivers to prepare for their trips before entering toll roads by ensuring they have everything needed for the journey.

“For example, make sure both the vehicle and the driver are in good condition. Ensure fuel and electronic toll balance are sufficient, use rest areas when tired, and obey traffic signs and instructions from officers,” she added.
