Jakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Anindya Bakrie, is exploring collaboration opportunities between Indonesia and the United States in developing Indonesia’s dairy industry.

This initiative was conveyed during his meeting with the U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) in Washington, D.C., on Thursday (May 1).

"Essentially, these two associations are potential partners for Indonesia to increase dairy imports and establish a dairy industry within the country," Bakrie said in a statement.

He emphasized that the cooperation is not only aimed at meeting the national protein needs but also aligns with the government’s program to promote nutritious food consumption for future generations.

“From the government’s perspective, nutritious food is a core program—not just for today, but for the future,” he stated.

In addition to the nutritional aspect, Kadin views this partnership as an opportunity to create jobs and empower entrepreneurs across different regions.

“Kadin supports this initiative because it can create job opportunities and foster new entrepreneurs, not only in Java but throughout the country,” Bakrie remarked.

He also expressed optimism that trade relations between Indonesia and the U.S. could significantly improve in the near future.

“Kadin believes that within the next 2–3 years, trade between the two countries could double, which would mean double the benefits for our workers, our entrepreneurs, and so on,” he continued.

The meeting is part of Kadin’s ongoing efforts to expand international partnerships that support food sector industrialization while addressing the growing nutritional needs of the Indonesian population.

“We want this cooperation to not only fulfill protein needs from dairy but also to support the industrialization of dairy products we require,” he concluded.
